RPT

The Regional Planning Team will deliver two forums for teacher candidates/associate teachers (120 people) focusing on preparing secondary students for college programs. A one day forum of experiential activities for Grades 7-8 students followed by a Family Day where students demonstrate for their parents their accomplishments from the previous day is planned. Students described as disengaged and struggling will attend college on three occasions for orientation and development of skills. The RPT will, through Making Environmental Connections (MEC) link secondary teachers and college staff in the environmental studies curriculum to enhance the classroom delivery of the environmental studies curriculum. This has resulted in articulation agreements, the development of six independent study units and students accessing college through the MEC initiative. Fifteen schools will work further with this multi credit environmental program.

The regional forums will focus on Connecting Mathematics Educators, Connecting Students to Careers in Hospitality and Tourism, Connecting Business Educators and Connecting Students with College Supports.

These activities are known as Building Connections i.e. Building Connections at Durham College, Building Connections at Loyalist College, Building Connections at Sir Sanford Fleming College.
