be hosting a series of free, online, self-paced workshops that will
be of interest to Teachers, Principals and other educators who are called
upon to deal with social issues in today's school system.
Three serious and sensitive issues are being tackled in these workshops:
bullying prevention, addiction awareness and cultural appreciation.
The first of these workshops, Bullying Prevention, was launched on February
1, 2006. The Addiction Awareness workshop is being launched on February
27th and the Cultural Appreciation workshop is scheduled for launch
in May.
Each workshop is made up of modules that can be used individually or
as a comprehensive package. It is estimated that four hours will be
required to complete the workshop. These online workshops combine text
with audio, video, animation, graphics and colour in an interesting
and motivational self-paced learning environment.
Bullying Prevention Workshop
Within the Safe Schools Initiative of the government, many district
school boards are working to develop Anti-Bullying programs with the
goal of preventing harassment and mental and physical trauma for students.
The Staff who are developing these programs need access to a great variety
of resources.
The Bullying Prevention Workshop offers a host of best practices and
resources that will help in the development of policy plus practical
methods of intervention that provide an understanding of the effect
of bullying on all related parties.
This free, online, self-paced workshop that will be of interest to Teachers,
Principals and other educators who are called upon to deal with Bullying
in today's school system.
Addiction Awareness Workshop
The Addiction Awareness workshop examines the broad range of addictions
that threaten students within our schools. Working from this broad understanding
the workshop focuses on drug and alcohol abuse as the leading threats
to today's youth.
While studying proven best practices participants will gain a knowledge
of drugs and drug use, will learn to identify the signs of addiction
and learn effective strategies of intervention and assistance.

Principals and other educators within the school system trying to identify
and assist youth under the strain of an addiction.
