SCWI Provincial Symposium

“CONNECTING SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES FOR STUDENT SUCCESS”

The School/College/Work Initiative is hosting a one-day symposium on May 10th, at Mohawk College in Hamilton featuring seminars presented by project teams who have been involved in the SCWI during the current year.

The symposium has been designed for school board program leaders, school board Student Success Coordinators, senior administrators from the colleges and district school boards, and for representatives from the 29 funded SCWI projects.

We invite you to:
  • learn about the many exciting programs that are building communication links between the secondary schools and community colleges
  • gather practical ideas that can be used in your schools to support students in the college destination pathways
  • share in the creative approaches that are being used to help students reach ahead to college
  • learn how your board or college can become involved in the next round of SCWI funding

As can be seen in the workshop descriptors on the brochure, the symposium has been organized around seven themes, including teacher exchanges, curriculum alignment, and reach ahead programs for students. The symposium provides an excellent opportunity to learn from “best practices” and to gather ideas for your region’s Phase 8 application proposal.

We invite you to register through this website by April 30, 2004.

There will be no registration fee for this one-day program. Participants will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs.
